Doreen Khayanga Wasike (born 1982 in Nairobi) is a Kenyan model. She became the first woman from East Africa to be crowned Miss Commonwealth Africa in Milton Keynes, England, United Kingdom on 31 December 2010. Originating from the Luhya people in Western Kenya, she was born to Rosemary Nafuna and Abiud Simiyu Wasike. She is an alumnus of Nairobi Primary School, Moi Girls High School in Eldoret, Strathmore University and the University of Greenwich, where she successfully completed her Master of Science in Information Management Systems. As a Culture and Charity ambassador, Wasike is also keen on championing and promoting eco-tourism and greening initiatives in Africa using renewable solar energy. About Miss Commonwealth Miss Commonwealth Beauty Pageant is an annual event that brings together Girls and Women representatives from all over the commonwealth to celebrate and showcase the beautiful cultural diversity that exists amongst the commonwealth Nations. The pageant aims at promoting quality of Life sustainability amongst Commonwealth Nations. The pageant is held during the Commonwealth International Cultural and Charity evening TV special showcase (CICCETSS). Once invested/crowned, the title holders are referred to as Commonwealth Culture and Charity ambassadors (CCA'S). Pageant Structure The pageant has seven principle titles namely: Miss Commonwealth International Mrs Commonwealth International Miss Teen Commonwealth International Miss Commonwealth Africa Miss Commonwealth Asia-Pacific Miss Commonwealth Caribbean Miss Commonwealth Euro-Atlantic The eighth title is for the Queen of Friends of the Commonwealth—specific to representatives of non commonwealth member states.
