Donald MacLaren of MacLaren

Donald MacLaren of MacLaren (born 22 August 1954) is a retired British diplomat who is chief of the Scottish Clan MacLaren.
Diplomatic career
Donald MacLaren joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1978 and served
at Berlin, Moscow and at the FCO. He was deputy Head of Mission in Cuba 1991-94 and in Venezuela 1997-2000, and Consul-General and deputy Head of Mission in Ukraine 2000-04. He was Ambassador to Georgia 2004-07.
After retiring from the FCO, MacLaren stood as an Independent candidate in the constituency of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath in the United Kingdom general election, 2010. This was the constituency of the then Labour Party leader, Gordon Brown, who was re-elected.
MacLaren now has a partnership in London, called Perfect Pitch, teaching the skills of persuasion.
Clan chief
Donald MacLaren is chief of Clan MacLaren in succession to his father, also Donald MacLaren, who died in 1966.
