Dominick Evans

Dominick Evans (born December 26, 1980) is an American born actor, writer, blogger, and human rights activist. Born in Toledo, Ohio with a progressive muscle disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Dominick was a well known figure on television, radio and other media outlets in Northwest Ohio throughout the early 90s. During this time, Dominick served as Poster child (later named Junior Goodwill Ambassador) of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Northwest Ohio in 1990 and 1991 and for the state of Ohio in 1992 and 1993.

Early life
Dominick grew up in the Toledo suburb of Walbridge, Ohio. He was diagnosed at age four with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (later named SMA III) by Dr. Edward Orecchio. Born Meghan Lawniczak, Evans struggled not only with his disability as he went into a wheelchair full time at age 16, but also with his gender identity. At the age of 22, he took the steps toward becoming a man. As a transgender male he has expressed himself through his writing and through his activism with various human rights organizations.

Dominick is also an accomplished singer. He's trained with various teachers including Lee Merrill, formerly of the Houston Opera. Well known for his singing in Toledo, Evans has sung on the Toledo Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, for various Toledo radio stations and for the opening day celebrations of Cedar Point Amusement Park in 2001 before a crowd of thousands.

Dominick attended Bowling Green State University from 1999-2000 and Wright State University from 2000-2003. He majored in Theatre with a minor in Political Science. During his sophmore year at Wright State, he ran unsuccessfully for Vice President of WSU Student Council.

Acting
Throughout junior high and high school, despite mobility limitations, Dominick was able to participate in most of the school musicals. Having attended Lake High School in Millbury, Ohio, Evans acted in , Camelot, The Wizard of Oz and shared the lead part of the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Dominick acted in community based theater at Bowling Green's Black Swamp Theatre in their production of Anything Goes. He also participated in the critically acclaimed production as both a singer and crew member for the American debut of Woza Albert! at Bowling Green State University. At Wright State, Dominick participated in a production of The Normal Heart, a play about the HIV-AIDS crisis of the early 80s.

In 2002, Dominick made his film debut in the independent movie, The Making Of... where he played the role of the Make Up Artist. The movie is a mockumentary about a film crew making a movie. The film won a Jury Award at the New York Short Film Festival and a Documentary Film Award for Best Mockumentary at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.

Writing/Blogging

Dominick worked as a freelance writer for a company he founded, Dominash Studios, from 2003-2007. He now works as a full time blogger for Literary Illusions. Founded in 2006, the site was created with his business and life partner, Ashtyn Evans. The blog is now a network of blogs that features movie, music, book, games and product reviews, sports articles, weird news, celebrity gossip, kids reviews, and more. The Literary Illusions Network is a growing network with close to 40,000 visitors and over 250,000 page views per month. The sites within the network include Gamerrazzi, Home Team Advantage, LI Reviews, LI Kids, and LI by Night. The LI by Night site is an 18+, adult version of the original Literary Illusions with reviews of adult movies, products, weird news, and erotic stories.

Personal life

Dominick lives in Michigan with his longtime girlfriend, Ashtyn. They have a 13 year old son and a vicious Shih Tzu named Oliver.
