Dominic Robert Andrew Johnson

Dominic Johnson is a prominent figure in British politics, business and society. His key focuses in politics revolve around radical reform of all public services, re-building the economy of Britain and community volunteering projects.
Johnson founded Somerset Capital Management LLP in 2007 and is the firm’s Chief Executive Officer. Somerset Capital is an employee-owned Global Emerging Markets, specialist fund management firm with around $3.4bn in AUM.
Prior to starting Somerset Capital, Johnson helped to build Lloyd George Management from $1.5bn to $16bn under management between 2001 and 2007. He has spent the last 17 years raising capital for various institutions in Asia, the USA and the UK including Robert Fleming and Jardine Fleming. He graduated from Durham University in 1995.
Childhood and Education
Johnson was borne 6 April 1974 and christened in Sparsholt. He grew up on a farm in Hampshire and he has recently moved from Farleigh Wallop to Englefield. He went to Horris Hill Prep school and Marlborough College, then read politics at Durham graduating in 1995.

In February 2010, Johnson ran the Step up St. Charles project encouraging working professionals to put something back into their community.
Additionally, Johnson has been:
* Founding Director, New City Initiative, a think tank focusing on fund management and financial regulation issues
* Junior treasurer of the Conservative Party (2010)
* Co-chairman, Business & Entrepreneurs Forum, that supports the Conservative Party in its pursuit of encouraging entrepreneurship and business across the UK (2010)
* Director, Kensington and Chelsea Credit Union (2011-2012)
* Conservative Councillor for St Charles Ward on the Kensington and Chelsea Council (May 2006 - 2010)
Business
Since 1996 Johnson has been raising capital for various institutions in Asia, the USA and the UK starting with Robert Fleming & Co. in London in 1995 and Jardine Fleming in 1998.
Johnson was also CEO and founder of AssetLine.com from 1998-2001.Assetline.com is one of Asia’s leading construction equipment auction web sites. Now based in Japan, AssetLine was a pioneer in B2B ecommerce when it was launched in 1998 at the start of the internet revolution and in the wake of the Asian financial collapse.
From 2001-2007 Johnson, with Jacob Rees-Mogg and Edward Robertson, built Lloyd George Management from $1.5bn under management to $16bn when he left in April 2007.
Johnson, who founded Somerset Capital Management in 2007, is the firm's Chief Executive Officer.
Personal life
Dominic is married to Alice Hamilton whose father, Lord Hamilton of Epsom, was Minister of Defence under Margaret Thatcher.
