Dolores Molloy is a fictional character on the Irish soap opera Fair City. She is the widow of Harry Molloy. The character is portrayed by Martina Stanley. Until the death of her husband When Dolores was married to Harry Molloy, he had an affair with her best friend Shelly O'Connor. However, after Lorraine Doyle's death, Dolores and Harry got back together. Despite this Dolores began an affair with Frank Monaghan, resulting in her pregnancy. Dolores maintained, though, that her husband was the father of the child. After it was born, the baby was named Jessica. Soon after this, Dolores became addicted to shopping and ended up spending a lot of money on clothes. She even started stealing to fund her addiction. Later on, she worked at the Phelans to pay off her debt to them, but she realised that she was suffering from kleptomania. Harry helped her to recover from her condition. When Jenny Byrne was babysitting Jessica, she invited her boyfriend Ross O'Rourke over. After having left drugs on the floor, Jessica swallowed them and subsequently died. When Harry later saw Ross in the graveyard, he attacked him from behind with a bar, which killed instantly. When Barry O'Hanlon came across Ross' body, he ended up being the prime suspect of murdering Ross because Ross had an illicit affair with his girlfriend Sorcha. To protect his friend, Harry confessed and was arrested, but later released on bail. Dolores and Harry went to a hotel where Harry committed suicide. After the death of her husband Dolores, feeling lonely, became very religious and started helping out at The Shelter. She quickly befriended a homeless 15-year-old girl named Cleo, believing that God had brought the girl to her. She asked Cleo to move in with her, but Cleo found herself unwilling to abide by rules and ended up stealing food for her old homeless friends. Dolores discovered that Cleo had gone on the run. Determined to help her, she searched for her. In the meantime, Cleo was forced into helping her friends break into an old woman's house. She couldn't believe that her friends tied up the old woman, Ursula, and took some of her belongings. The Gardaí caught them and took them to a Garda Station. Dolores was shocked to find Cleo there and reconciled with her. Ursula moved in with Dolores and had a tough attitude towards Cleo. This diminished over time and Ursula now teaches Cleo how to cook. When Ursula returned to her home county, Dolores and Sergei, Lana's brother, started a friendship, which seemed to become a romance. Cleo met her old friends once again, but she refused to have anything to do with them this time and turned to Dolores for help. Dolores helped her to go back to school. Later she got close to Father Thaddeus Kilkelly, a priest on an exchange from England. They found that they had something in common, which was that someone close to them had committed suicide. After realising that they couldn't stay away from each other, they ended up sleeping together. While Dolores and Thaddeus were becoming closer, Ursula and Father Bertie became suspicious and by the time they both slept together, the two realised that it was serious. Ursula, who had been in love with a priest 40 years ago, tried to explain that a relationship between the two was impossible and Bertie told Thaddeus that he would be moved to a different parish. Ray O'Connell tells everyone about the affair and Dolores is subjected to humiliation and rumours over the next few days. However, Dolores manages to forgive Thaddeus and even wishes him well as he has to leave.
