DJ Carlos

DJ Carlos became a Disc Jockey, following in his father and uncle’s footsteps. He visited one of their parties as a 5 year old kid and knew he wanted to be a DJ after seeing all the happy faces on the audience. He became particularly popular during the San Francisco Rave scene. He started doing all kinds of DJ jobs growing up and in 1992, Joel from A Rave Called Sharon, found him at a Latin club where he was working and invited him to play at their next party. Since that day DJ Carlos played at every weekend rave in San Francisco. Other parties played in 1992 include Creation, Escape, Connection, Cool World, The Promised Land, Candy Land, and the Casper Halloween Party.
In 1993, DJ Carlos became a Resident at Recycle on Wednesdays and Universal Groove on Thursdays, while still playing Saturday raves and Sunday Spundae. Other parties played in 1993 included Crunch, Dr. X's Freaky Fry-Day, Casper Halloween Party, Flem Globber, Get Down Get Down Get Down and Wicked Together Again, Juice, Mind the Gap, Sweet'N Low, The Garden, Tribal Funk, Unity, Baked Raindrop, Cyberfest, Splash, and To The Head.
In 1994, DJ Carlos started his own party with DJ Dutch and DJ Christoff, CDC Soundsystem and still playing raves on the weekends. They celebrated his birthday in 1995 at their Acidfest party, a tribute to acid music. Other parties in 1994 included Anthem of the Sun, Equinox, Ex-Why-ZZZ?, and Generation. He then started flying to Denver to play at the Come Together Party with DJ Dan, DJ Hippy, DJ Halo, DJ Terry Mullan, and many others. In 1995, a new party was started called Area 51 and Josh Wink headlined one of them. DJ Carlos played with DJ Tony, DJ Jeno, DJ Astralmatrixx and DJ Carlos started flying out to Seattle, Portland, New York, Cleveland, and every major city in Ohio (Columbus: One party ), Chicago, and the whole Midwest. In 1995, He also played at a San Diego nightclub named PLAYSCOOL, in addition to Hanger 18, Kaboom, Kundalini, and Liquid Groove.
In 1996, DJ Carlos started playing a new party called LOVE with a new company called the SF House Collective and played with Dubtribe and an endless list of DJs. He played a family reunion in the Midwest, and in New York at Twilo and with Phato Productions. Other 1996 parties included Nation We Are Different, Planet New Year, Spundae, and Unity. DJ Carlos continued playing at the SF House Collective LOVE party in 1997. Other parties played in 1997 included Acid Breaks, Basics, Freedom, Halloween Block Party, and Open. DJ Carlos also played a party called Silly Rabbit 3 and Together 4-Ever in Chicago during 1997. Parties played in Columbus, Ohio in 1997 included Intimate and Metamorphosis.
In 1998, DJ Carlos played at Nikita with DJ Sasha. Parties played in 1998 included Culture, Cyberfest, Freedom, Leaping Into Fierce Energy, Unity, and the continuation of the SF Collective "Love" party. In 1999, DJ Carlos played a party called The Spirit of Giving with SF House Collective Associate DJ Melanie. Other parties for the year included @spire, The World of Dr. Splift, and 'Lil Monsters. For the Millennium, DJ Carlos played a party called Quetzal. In 2002, DJ Carlos was playing "Deep Down Fridays" at the Paragon Restaurant and Bar.
DJ Carlos then took 3 years off and started playing again at Fiddler’s Green in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. DJ Carlos recently started a new company called Toltek Productions where he is dedicating all his energy to producing music and has many more events to come.
