District of North Vancouver Fire Department

District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services serves the District’s 82,500 residents within approximately 160 km /62 sq. miles of urban and wild-land territory. The Department employs 120 suppression staff organized over four platoons in five strategically located fire stations in the Lynn Valley, Lynnmour, Montroyal, Norgate, and Seymour areas. The Department also employs seven Command Officers, one Training Officer, seven Fire Prevention Education Personnel, two Mechanical Staff, and three Administrative Assistants. The only training and fire apparatus mechanical maintenance facility on the North Shore is also owned and operated by the Department.
History
District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services came into being in 1954. At that time there were four Fire Halls manned by one person, 24 hours a day, supplemented by a volunteer brigade. In 1970 the District of North Vancouver staffed each of its stations with three full-time firefighters, ending its need for volunteers. 1972 saw the addition of one more Fire Station bringing the total number to five the present day complement. Staffing was increased to four men per pumper in 1974 and a ladder truck was added to the fleet in 1975.

* Firehall 3 - Montroyal
* Firehall 4 - Seymour
