Dingoman Productions is an Internet sketch comedy group from Sugar Land, Texas. The group consists of director/editor/writer Andy Young, actor/writer Derek Papa and actor/writer James McEnelly. Known for their ridiculous sense of humor and YouTube shorts, they were the filmmakers behind The Legend of Action Man, which was made on a budget of $200. They now live together in Austin, Texas and continue to work together and produce short films while attending The University of Texas at Austin. History The members of Dingoman Productions formed while attending Austin High School together in 2008. Sharing interests in movies, music, and comedy, the group started making short films for Dawg Pause 16, the afternoon school announcements. Their videos quickly became popular throughout the school and the group later appeared on the cover of the school newspaper, the only front page in the schools history not to feature an athlete. After High School, the three went their separate ways. Andy went to Montana State University to study Film, James went to the University of North Texas to study Music and Derek went to Arizona State University to study Communications. After only a semester, Derek and Andy moved to Austin to live together, attend school and write what would later become The Legend of Action Man. In the Fall of 2010 James moved in with them, and now the three continue to live and work together on a regular basis. They still make low-budget shorts as Dingoman Productions and in the Spring of 2011 the three of them worked on the TSTV show "Shenanigans". James was one of the leads, Derek was a recurring guest star, Andy directed and edited Episode 2 and all three served as staff writers. Short Films Dingoman shorts have gained over 100,000 views from YouTube, Vimeo and Funny or Die. Their work has appeared on IMDb, the Houston Chronicle, the Austin Chronicle, Videomaker.com, KHOU Ch 11, KIAH 39,, Sugar Land Magazine and the Fort Bend Star. Some of their short films include: * Tony Seven, a short the group made for the 48 Hour Film Festival, won the award for 'Best Use of Dialogue' and screened at The Alamo Drafthouse Ritz. The short was later featured on the TSTV show Capital Cine Forum. On February 29th, 2012 it won the top prize at the Texas Union Film Festival. *The Brave Little Toaster, a live-action remake of the 1987 film, has been praised by members of the original cast and crew including Jerry Rees, Tom Wilhite and David Newman. The Legend of Action Man After only a semester in college, Andy left Montana State University and Derek left Arizona State University to live together in Austin, Texas and study at Austin Community College starting in the Spring of 2010. It was in that time that the two started writing what would later become “The Legend of Action Man”, based on a short film they made in High School. They immediately approached James, the other member of Dingoman Productions and the original Action Man from the video, about being in the film and he immediately said yes. The rest of the cast/crew was hired mostly from friends of the three. The film premiered at The Alamo Drafthouse in Houston to a sold-out crowd of 163 people. The film was shot entirely in and around the cast and crews hometown in Sugar Land, TX from May 17 to August 3, with a majority of the cast and crew being under the age of 20. The film was shot in HD for a budget of less than $200. To this day The Legend of Action Man is one of the least expensive films ever made.
