Jon Kauffman has written and directed five short films, one of which, A Fragrance of Night, won the “Best Undergraduate Drama” award at the Ivy Film Festival. Jon graduated with honors from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 2005. Upon completing his undergraduate work, he spent three months traveling and volunteering in East Africa where he was also completing research for a feature-length screenplay he has since written about the diamond trade. In addition, Jon has apprenticed with, and assisted Darren Aronofsky (writer/director of Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler), and interned with Jane Rosenthal at Tribeca Productions. He entered Columbia University's graduate film program in 2007.
