DigitalMedia is a technology from Crestron Electronics for carrying HDMI video and other media over CAT 5e cabling. The term is also used to refer to products such as input output devices and switchers that support the technology. History The original DigitalMedia used a custom cable and chipsets from 5 different vendors. Crestron then teamed with Valens Semiconductor to to produce DigitalMedia 8G which reduce the solution to single chip transporting media over a single shielded twisted pair cable. Finally further development by Crestron and Valens resulted in DigitalMedia 8G+ which is carried over standard CAT 5e cable. Certification Three levels of DigitalMedia installer certifications are offered by Crestron. there are over 5000 certified DigitalMedia installers. |
