Digital Hearts

"Digital Hearts" is the eighth single from Howling Bells. It was released on May 18, 2009 in digital download and vinyl format. It is the third single as well as the ninth track from their second album, Radio Wars.
Critical reception
"Digital Hearts", like most of its accompanying tracks from Radio Wars, was met with a variety of mixed results. Industry critics and fans alike had differing opinions about the substance that they were hearing coming from their speakers. While some welcomed its new poppier, electro-synth sound as an instinctual progression, others were disappointed by its deviation of the darker more amoebic approach from the first record that they had come to associate the band with. One critic calls it, "a brilliant, uncomplicated, up tempo song", and adds, "There’s a twist that cunningly belies its underlying euphoria. Listen closely, "Digital Hearts" might not be as sweet as you first thought". Another states it's a, "flurry of moody magnificence", while Virgin Music says, "it lacks the dark brilliance of their older material". Daily Music Guide relates it to being, "as stale as a pack of Jaffa Cakes left out on the kitchen counter for a week".
Music video
A music video was produced but never released and was directed by Dan Lowe for Partizan. Once more, the use of rear screen projection was employed.
