Dieudo Hamadi is a Congolese Documentary FilmMaker, writer and director. Dieudo was born in 1984 at Kisangani province in Democratic Republic of Congo. Early life After finishing his medical studies, Dieudo started pursuing documentary filming making.He graduated from INSAS Film School in Brussels.He then began working as an editor, assisant director and producer. In 2010 he received an award the Pierre and Yolande Perrault grant at the Cinéma du Réel for the film Dames en Anttente, in which he co-directed with Divita Wa Lusala. In the same year he co-directed a segment in the documentary Congo in Four Acts which was screened at the Berlinale Forum. Career The film Dames en Anttente also known as The ladies in waiting, takes place in the Martenity ward in Kinshasa.Where he documents the situations in detail of women who have just given birth, extreme poverty, and corruption. But the film focuses on the hospital accountant who is in charge of collecting birthing fees, from women who cannot afford to pay. She is seen trying to plead with the administration for these women who can not afford the bills, and sometimes she seen talking to the husbands about it. 2013 In 2013 he filmed his first Documentary Atalaku(Town Criers), which is filmed during 2012 elections,considered the first democratic elections since 1960.The film captures the use of bribes and several citizens with political passion. The film received the Joris Ivens Award at the Cinéma du Réel and the Young Adults Jury Award at the Black Movie. 2014 National Diploma he documents a life of higschool students,who are on their final year waiting to sit for their final exam which is considered as a diploma,to enable to apply for University studies.Students who fail to finish paying the last trimester can not sit for their exams even though they have completed the previous fees. He focuses on a poor teenage orphan student, Joël who has to works in the market before and after school.He shows the struggles of these students. National Diploma won the Scam award and the Potemkine Publishers award 2017 Mama Colonel a documentary about the Colonel Honorine Munyole the head of the child abuse and sexual harassment police unit at the Kisangani province.He films her day-to-day work and struggles, as she has to convince the citizen to report to crimes. Mama Colonel received the Tagesspiegel Jury Award together with the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlinale Forum and the Grand Prix at the Cinéma du Réel 2018 Kinsasha Makambo the film documents the protest of young people especially three young courageous activists after the president of DRC decides to change the constitution. The film was presented in the 2018 Panorama Section in the Berlinale and the International Competition of Cinéma du Réel.The same year it Premiered in United States at the True/False Festival and it received a True Vision Award.
