Dianne Spain

Dianne Spain (née Gurau), (born 20 April 1951, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand) is a qualified counselor and author of the book Names and Attributes of God which was published in 2008.
Biography
Spain is the second eldest of nine children by Hans Rudolf Gurau and Dorothy Lillian Gurau (Nee Leathart). She grew up in a Christian family, and the first five years of her life were in Devonport, Auckland. She moved to Birkdale on the North Shore in August 1956, and finished school at Northcote College in 1967 at the age of sixteen.
She trained at the University of Auckland in Counselling (Dip. Counselling) and Relationship counselling (Cert.), including the counselling approaches of person-centered therapy, solution focused brief therapy, refocussing therapy, interactive Drawing Therapy, sandplay therapy and imago therapy.
Career
Spain specialises in pre marriage, relationship, stress management, group facilitation, self awareness, and other small group workshops.
During her years as a counsellor, she has run a counselling department with a team of 10 counsellors, has been a counsellor dealing with a variety of people and their issues, and has organised, managed and written programmes, and lectured in pastoral care and counselling courses. She is also a member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
Author
Spain published her first book Names and Attributes of God in 2007. The book highlights the names and attributes given to God throughout the Christian Bible. It provides a step by step exercise at the beginning of the book aiming to help people connect with God through the names and attributes. Each name has an explanation and two or three Bible verses containing that attribute.
The book was short-listed for the Omega Writers Caleb Prize for "Best Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2010".
