Derek Rakos

Derek M. Rakos (born April 19, 1982 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American composer and pianist Rakos worked closely with Perris Alexander and Right Door Productions in Hollywood, CA as a composer and recording pianist on many film composition projects in association with Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures.

Personal life
Rakos was born on April 19, 1982, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, though his family moved to Yorba Linda, California at an early age. He currently resides in Huntington Beach, California. Though involved with music for most of his life, Rakos received his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at California State University, Fullerton. In addition to piano, Rakos also learned to play various other instruments, including clarinet, saxophone, oboe, trumpet, and the french horn. Though he now focuses primarily on piano when recording, he often scores music that features these specific instruments.

Mr. Rakos is also believed to be dating Rachel Ross, the daughter of U.S. diplomat Dennis Ross.

Career
A composer with over 8 years of experience as well more than 12 years of experience as a pianist with established Southern California music programs, Rakos has worked closely with the film music composition group Immediate Music.
