David Tanny (born April 26, 1960) is a comedy music artist/DJ and a media blogger/commentator from the San Diego metro area. He was the proprietor of an Internet radio station called DFSX Radio from 2000 until 2009 when he shut it down. It specialized in playing novelty music inspired by radio host Dr. Demento. He hosts an free-streaming Internet radio show called "Mad Music Comedy Zone" hosted on Captain Wayne's website. Tanny produced over a hundred homemade satirical, strange, comedy and novelty pieces that make people laugh, satirized commerce, or otherwise think since he started the hobby in 1998. Reviews were mixed, mostly on the down side. Tanny’s influences include Barnes and Barnes, Napoleon XIV, Bob and Tom, Allan Sherman, SCTV, the 70s era of Saturday Night Live, punk and modern rock, disco, Tom Leykis, celebrities, Stan Freberg, Bob and Doug McKenzie, game shows, sitcoms, commerce, Cheech and Chong, Steve Martin, Monty Python, Bob Newhart, talk radio, classic rock and roll, and more. His music has been played on the Dr. Demento show twice on July 2 and July 23 of 2006. His cut was about Mariah Carey's screams edited into a satirical record ad. He was also featured on a few other Internet radio shows, some of which are no longer being produced, such as The Looney Bin hosted by funny recording artist Tony Goldmark. Tanny is also a media blogger covering radio and other media on San Diego News . He contributed to some of the articles on including those about the Channel 100 pay TV service , and the history of the call letters of KPRI, two radio stations during different eras in San Diego . Tanny also contributed to respectable publications such as an article in the San Diego Union Tribune about local radio and one for the San Diego Reader about Flo TV's demise.
