Eklektikos with John Aielli

Eklektikos is a weekday morning radio program on radio station KUT 90.5, based in Austin, TX. It is one of KUT's longest running radio shows, having been hosted by John Aielli since its inception in 1970. Eklektikos is most notable for its wide variety of musical content. Classical, Jazz, Folk, Rock, and traditional music from around the world are featured on the program. The show has featured many local musicians, including Spoon, Eliza Gilkyson, Li'L Captain Travis, and numerous others, and has since its inception been an important showcase of the music of Austin. John Aielli's wide interests, not only in music, but in literature and art, allow the show to explore themes which usually link the musical selections each day. He has been honored many times by listeners in the Austin Chronicle's Reader's Poll: Best Radio DJ (2006), Best Morning Radio Host (1990-1992, 2001-2003), and Best Talk Radio Host (1996, 1998, and 2000). |
