David Logan Scholarship

The David Logan Scholarship is a scholarship founded by Rock Riley, current host of The Toyota Sports Connection on Bay News 9. Beginning in 2000, Rock Riley began the scholarship to pay tribute to David Logan who recently died of heart failure.

The Scholarship
Each year, two students in Florida that have succeeded through High School are chosen to appear on the sports connection with Rock Riley and receive their scholarship.

Legally Blind Student
In May 2003, a legally blind River Ridge High School student named Douglas Webber from New Port Richey, Florida won the David Logan Scholarship. He had straight A's for 7 semesters in high school, won the governors award with Jeb Bush, and was salutatorian of his senior class. All the way through high school, Webber used a technology called Jordy to help him read books and see the board. Webber went to University of Florida to study Economics and wanted to become a professor. Later that year Webber made an appearance on The Today Show from UF.
