Darren Scully

Darren Scully (born 8 November 1973) is a Fine Gael member of Naas Town Council and was one of the two Fine Gael candidates for the Kildare North constituency in the 2007 Irish General Election.
Scully was born in Drogheda, County Louth. For all of his adult life he has lived in Naas, County Kildare. Scully was elected to Naas Town Council in 2004. He contested the Kildare North by-election for Fine Gael in 2005 where he was placed third and eliminated on the fifth count after receiving 18% of the vote.
In the 2007 general election Scully ran with the sitting Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan, based in Maynooth on the ticket. Darren achieved 4,250 first preferences, doubling the Fine Gael vote in the Naas area, where the Scully campaign was mainly based. Bernard Durkan achieved 5,340 first preferences, mainly in the North of the constituency. Scully was eliminated on the fifth count and approximately 70% of his first preferences transferred to Durkan, electing Durkan with an increased Fine Gael vote of 21% from both the 2005 by-election and the 2002 general election.
Darren Scully is married to Deirdre and they have two children.
