Daniel southern

Several years ago Southern began to step out to assist those doing evangelism as a full-time independent consultant and in 2006 formed his own organization "Proclamation Strategies" or PROstrata. After several significant projects, Southern ran into the recently born-again actor, Stephen Baldwin, and soon the duo was off and running with the newly formed ministry, “The Global Breakthrough” (GBTM). Its goal is to reach this current generation’s youth with a positive and uplifting faith-based message of hope using extreme sports in large venues across the world as the chosen vehicle. Dan now serves as the first President of the GBTM.

Southern served as the 12th President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Tract Society From 1995–2007. ATS is arguably the oldest non-profit in America. At ATS, Dan and his team began working to re-define “Tract Ministry” by re-engineering it to package the presentation of the Christian Gospel of Jesus Christ so anyone can be an effective evangelizer in today’s world. During his tenure, many new kinds of tracts were developed. Recent innovations included the Digi-tract, e-tracts, “Quick Response” tracts and current event and culturally relevant tracts on themes such as movies, books and holidays. The ATS Halloween ministry “Light-Up-The-Night” has been especially effective and ATS has just launched a legitimate Christian alternative to MySpace called MEETfish.com. Every year ATS circulates tens of millions of Gospel tracts in over 100 languages around the world.

From 1976–1994, Southern served as a Crusade organizer with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. In that role he traveled extensively, speaking and preparing community leaders to gather the largest audiences possible to hear the presentations of Billy Graham and his associates.. Dan directed many of Graham’s largest and most memorable outreaches while living in such diverse cities as Moscow, New York City, London and Amsterdam.

Southern is an ordained minister, who’s preaching and teaching has motivated and encouraged many thousands of listeners in audiences around the world. He speaks on “Evangelism,” “Leadership,” “Discipleship” and "Parenting" and has written extensively.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Southern was raised in a Christian home. Even as a teenager, he felt called to full-time service in ministry. He graduated from Taylor University in Indiana where he earned a BA degree with majors in both Philosophy and Bible Literature and has since done graduate work toward his MA in Theology at several leading institutions of learning.

Southern and his wife, Lori, have two children; Adam and Tyler and live near Dallas, Texas.
