Daniel Risacher is Associate director for Information Policy and Integration in the Office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer, United States Department of Defense at The Pentagon. Previously active-duty officer of the United States Air Force. Mr. Risacher is an expert on open source software at The Pentagon. "Many people in the DOD consider that the watershed event" that opened the doors for open-source software, said John Shea, director of enterprise services and integration at DOD. "Dan brought the initial awareness of , then he championed it and did all of the heavy lifting." Risacher's services were employed by the United States Air Force to develop software for the Airborne early warning and control (AWACS). Formerly, created and maintained a W3 page for the United States Air Force Black Horse project, for Pioneer Rocketplane. Mr. Risacher was the winner of the Federal 100 in 2010. Mr. Risacher holds two degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in electrical engineering and computer science. SB and Meng '96.
