Curtis ambrose

Curtis Ambrose (born Porirua, February 29, 1992) is one of six children. He currently attends Wellington College and represents New Zealand in basketball.
Early life
Curtis Ambrose was born into a large family of six children in Titahi Bay, Porirua . His parents moved from Papa New Guinea in 1991 to start a new life in New Zealand. From an early age Curtis was involved in many sports including basketball, darts and lawn bowls. He took up basketball full time when starting Wellington College in 2003 playing many hours every week for both the school team and Porirua.
New Zealand
In July 2007, Curtis was approached by the New Zealand Basketball Assocciation to represent his country in the 2008 World Cup, held in Israel. Playing for the Under-18 squad, Curtis has made headline news across New Zealand and has become one of the countries leading players. In 2009 he was offered a contract with the Orlando Magic, a contract thought to be worth $2million dollars over five years. Curtis declined the offer, to focus on acheiving NCEA Level 2 and await a proposal from the Los Angeles Lakers
Academic
Failing NCEA Level 2, three years in a row has forced Curtis Ambrose to consider his place at Wellington College but as of yet is still at the college despite being three years older than most other pupils. He is a keen artist, creating multiple banners for the local basketball club - Miramar Rovers.
