Curse Your Name (aka CYN) is a 6-piece industrial/metalcore band.
History
CYN formed in 1998 under the name "Cynder" in Asheboro, North Carolina by high school friends Ryan Camp (vocals) and J. J. Moore (lead guitar). After some initial lineup changes, the band began to pursue a more professional orientation. In 2003, they recorded a demo produced by ex-Heartscarved and then-Sullivan drummer Mike Lawrence called Hide the Light. The demo eventually got the attention of Ozzy Osbourne's wife/manager Sharon Osbourne, who was conceptualizing a competitive reality television show. Curse your name producer/mentor Lawrence joined the band in 2004 to take over guitar, backup vox, and keyboard duties. They were chosen to take part in the resulting show, Battle for Ozzfest, wherein the participating bands competed for a slot on the traveling rock festival's second stage. They placed second behind A Dozen Furies. Shortly after the airing of the program, Cynder changed their name to Curse Your Name, due to an already signed band under the name Cinder. CYN toured with the other 2 finalists in 2005. CYN recently finished recording their self-titled cd, and are set to release it sometime in 2008.
