Culbann C.P.C

Culbann C.P.C (Clay Pigeon Club) is a family run Clay Shooting facility which is based in Ballynease, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland and was opened in 1996 by Martin Loughlin. The primary aim of the club is to provide an area and service where people can come and pursue a sport in a safe and controlled environment.
The club was founded in 1996 and joined the provisional governing body the UCPSA, with 2 Down-The-Line (DTL) layouts to host 25 bird re-entry "flappers", in these flappers people would shoot as many lines of 25 targets as they wished as it was re-entry. Towards the end of 1999 the ground expanded to a 4 layout facility with clubhouse and toilets (a feature not common at the time in Irelands shooting ranges) to be able to hold registered 100 bird shoots.
Home International and British Open 2006
In July 2006 Culbann C.P.C hosted the prestigious events the Home International and British Open for DTL shooting in Northern Ireland for the very first time in history.
To host this event the ground had to under go drastic redesign. When ground owner Martin Loughlin was awarded the position of host for this event by the UCPSA (Ulster Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) planning started immediately. The initial start up period was a difficult one especially as the very same week Martin suffered a heart attack. At this stage the ground was situated on 2 fields in the area of Lower Culbann, Ballynease, these 2 fields each had 2 layouts on it being separated by a third field. The plan Martin came up with was to acquire this third field and drastically expand the overall car park and arrange the new layouts over the new field and the first one. This event was the culmination of a lot of planning from Culbann C.P.C, by upgrading from a 4 layout facility to an 8 layout facility. Through the upgrading of the ground the original 4 layouts were demolished or made redundant to make space for the new 8 layouts.
It was a great time for Northern Ireland as not only hosting the event for the first time, they managed to walk away the overall winners of the Home Internationals in 2006.
Home International and British Open 2011
Culbann C.P.C is set to host the Home Internationals and British Open again in the year 2011 when the rotation of countries comes back to Northern Ireland.
Further enhancements to the facilities and general improvements are planned by ground management.
