Maplehurst Correctional Centre is a correctional facility located in the Province of Ontario in Milton, a community of 43,000 about 30 miles (50 kilometres) from Toronto. Milton was at one time the home of the Halton County Jail (1863-1978). Maplehurst was built in the mid 1970s in an area of farmland. It was expanded firstly in the late 1980s and again in the early 21st century. It is a medium to maximum security prison that caters for men aged 18 years and over who have received sentences of less than two years and for those on remand.
The prison provides a variety of remedial programs including but not limited to life skills, addictions, anger management and Alcoholics Anonymous.
