Cristina Howorun is a Canadian broadcast journalist with Toronto’s Citytv. She grew up in Toronto and suburban Brampton. Howorun was born in Toronto, Ontario. She has an undergraduate degree in Political Sciences from the University of Windsor, a Master’s degree in Canadian Politics from and a degree in Journalism from Ryerson University. Howorun joined Citytv after being a political affairs reporter for CTV Windsor and CTV London. She’s earned four Edward R. Murrow Awards and an RTDNA Canada award for Investigative Journalism, In 2018, Howorun was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease and shared her diagnosis and experience publicly She continued to report on-air while undergoing daily dialysis. In June 2019 Howorun’s cousin Christine donated one of her kidneys, saving her life. Howorun documented much of the transplant process for viewers and returned on-air a few months after the surgery., and is an ambassador for many of its campaigns In 2021, Howorun produced and hosted her first full-length documentary; , which premiered nationally on the CityTV network in April 2021 .
