Creda Showers is a UK supplier of domestic showering solutions.
Creda Showers is part of the privately owned Glen Dimplex Group which operates globally and has annual turnover of c.£1.5bn. Sister companies include Morphy Richards, Dimplex, Stoves, Belling, New World, and Roberts Radio.
Creda Showers are sold exclusively through retail outlets (See Retailing). Competitors include Mira, and Triton and collectively with Creda Showers these brands dominate the retail channel. Other competitors include Aqualisa and Gainsborough.
The Creda brand can be found on a range of products including showers, electric space heating, fridges/freezers (see Refrigerator), and cookers (see Kitchen stove).
Previously owned as a joint venture between General Electric Company plc (GEC, which became Marconi plc) of the UK and General Electric (GE) of the USA, the Creda businesses were split as part of the difficulties and cash raising attempts of Marconi Plc Marconi Company following its move into Telecoms in the late 1990s / early 2000s. This resulted in separate ownership with showers and electric space heating as part of Glen Dimplex and other white goods as part of Hotpoint which in turn is owned by Indesit.
Retail channel
The retail channel for showering products is diverse and can be segmented into:- 1) DIY outlets, 2) Catalogue Shops, 3) Home shopping including catalogues, the internet, and home shopping TV channels, 4) department Stores, 5) Independent retailers, and 6) Supermarkets.
Creda Showers is represented across all the major outlets. Key stockists include the £10bn Kingfisher Group. Kingfisher plc which trades in the UK as B&Q and Screwfix, Home Retail Group which has annual turnover of £5.9bn in 2008/9 and trades in the UK as Argos and Homebase, Shop Direct Group (Littlewoods Shop Direct Group) which trades under brands such as Very, Great Universal, and Marshall Ward catalogue companies. Other stockists include supermarket giants such as the £18.9bn turnover Sainsbury’s and the £59.4bn Tesco.
Showering solutions in the UK cover five main shower types:- 1) electric showers (see Water heating), mixer showers, 3) digital mixer showers, 4) power showers and 5) shower towers. Creda has a solution for all shower types with the exception of shower towers.
