Edward Seitz

Edward Seitz was a member of the American foreign service and a special agent from Ohio killed in Iraq on October 24, 2004. He was the first U.S. diplomat killed in the Iraq War that began in March 2003. Seitz, 41, was killed in a predawn rocket or mortar attack on Camp Victory, an American-held base adjacent to Baghdad International Airport. Ed was a special agent with the US Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service. Testimony to Congress by Secretary of State Rice in January of 2007 made reference to the loss of life by diplomats in Iraq. One other DSS agent was killed in Iraq in 2005.
