Biography of Col Langhauser
Colonel Craig G. Langhauser entered the Army in 1982 upon his graduation from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was commissioned as an Armor Second Lieutenant and has served in a variety of Armor, Cavalry, and Acquisition assignments in CONUS, Germany, and Kuwait. He led an Armored Cavalry Platoon in the 3d Squadron, 7th US Cavalry, 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized) and commanded an M1 Tank Company in the 2nd Bn-10th US Cavalry of the 194th Separate Armored Brigade.
His acquisition assignments include: Robotics Test Officer, USA Armor and Engineer Board, Armor Systems Officer, Army Research Laboratory, and several positions in the Office of the Project Manager, Abrams Tank Systems culminating as the Product Manager (Acting), M1A2. He has served as the Chief, Kuwait Armor Modernization Office in which he was responsible for the in-country execution of the Al Qurain Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case.
From June 2000 to June 2002, he served as the Product Manager, Advanced TOW Acquisition Systems (ATAS) where he was responsible for the production, fielding and logistics support for the Improved Bradley Acquisition Subsystem (IBAS) and the M41 Improved TOW Acquisition System (ITAS). He served as the Military Deputy Director, US Army Tank-Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center from June 2003 to June 2005. During this assignment he oversaw the development of expedient Add on Armor kits for the Army’s tactical wheeled vehicle and commercial construction equipment fleets. Colonel Langhauser served as PM, Combined Arms Tactical Trainers from August 2005 to July 2008 where he managed the Army’s virtual training devices and oversaw the development of the Synthetic Environment Core program that will provide the virtual domain’s core Live-Virtual-Constructive integration and interoperability capabilities.
Colonel Langhauser, in addition to his Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering, he holds Masters of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Maryland, University College, and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Junior Officer Motor Course, the Combined Arms Staff Service School, the Army Command and General Staff College Resident Course. His acquisition education includes the Materiel Acquisition Management Course, Training with Industry at Westinghouse, the MANPRINT Manager’s Course, the Software Acquisition Management Course, the Security Assistance Management Course, and the Defense Systems Management College Advanced Program Management Course.
Colonel Langhauser’s military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one silver oak-leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Ranger Tab, and the Parachutist Badge.
