Corey Franks

Lawson-Corey Franks (born July 27, 1978), better known as stage name, Corey Franks, is an American R&B / Pop singer / songwriter.

In 1995 he started a group called 4-Cyte, which he still invests time into.

He has had inspiration from his relatives that still linger in the industry today. Artist such as Tillman Franks (RIP), Thomas C. Franks and even Glen Campbell. Though they stick to a Country / Bluegrass genre, Corey has ventured out to the R&B / Soul / Pop genre. He started his own production company in 1998 properly named 4-C Productions and now has his own Management company as well properly named, 4-C Music Group.


Biography
Personal Life

Growing up listening to his father’s band play for years, Corey starting going to the Recording studios with his Dad. I think you know where I’m going with this…a little kid in a studio with a million buttons to push, big mistake!! Corey’s interest in recording came long before his interest in actually singing. Never the less, here he is, at the top of his game!

Looking ahead in the furture, Corey Franks is now signed to Universal records, and looks forward to releasing his 2nd album in 2008.

Past Performances
Corey has a number of performances. Such to include, singing the National Anthem on Live Television (ESPN) during late 2001 Astros vs. Cardinals with 4-Cyte. American Idol season 1 (Top 30). The Red Cat Jazz Cafe in downtown Houston. Juneteenth Festival in Dallas along with a small tour venue in Texas with Houston artist Brissa. With the most recent addition, 3rd place in male vocalist in the US Army “Stars of Tomorrow” as well as the United States Army Soldier Show!! Those are only a few of the highlights that Corey has done to get noticed!! While he was deployted to IRAQ in 2005-2006 he dominated every talent show every month! Shutting the competition down each time. Opened for Toby Keith when he came to IRAQ as well as DMX.

4-Cyte (1995 - 2002)
The has since been long broken up but each member is still active in the Music Biz, somehow someway. Def Jam Records was very close to signing the group in 2002. This led to the soon after break up of the group.

Solo Career (2002 - Present)
Tune in on the radio this year to hear Corey’s track “Baby It’s You” and also featured with seasoned veteran from the Swat Product, Houston’s own V-Zilla aka “VG Skillz” on the track dubbed “Heatwave”!! It’s off the chanklas for sure!! Corey also spent his time at home before he left to Iraq recording another hit waiting to happen “Shake” with Zilla. Pitch Brown also got a taste of Corey Franks as well, he recorded three tracks with the Dynamic duo in Houston. Make sure you buy the “Album before the Album” and listen for Corey on “So Into You” as well as two other tracks!! Also look for him with Artist like, Day 26, Brian Andrews, Ambassador Way Ent. artists such as, Rob V. and Prince "PHT" Charming.
