Compost cup

The compost cup is an annual international football tournament held in Balmoral way. It has been running since 2007. The event was founded by the great philosopher and compost player and team captain, Daniel Nolan. Daniel Nolan still today plays in the tournament despite holding the role of head organiser and planner.
The Compost Cup has its own rules which have been improved by FIFA, UEFAand the FAI. If the ball leaves the stadium the players team who the ball comes off last concedes a penalty, in order to be victorious it is vital that this foul is kept to a minimum as this is proved year in year out.
In 2008 the Compost Cup hit the limelight receiving endorsements which increased the quality and competiveness of the tournament. Six teams were entered into the competition Argentina, Bolivia, Botswana, Ireland, Vatican City and Spain. The group stage was a heated affair with Ireland and Botswana coming out as winners of both groups. The semi finalists were Botswana, Bolivia, Ireland and the Vatican City. After arguably the match of the tournament the second leg between Bolivia and Ireland, Bolivia came out the stronger side as three last minute goals from Daniel Ramsey and Joseph Begley confirmed they would be in the final. Botswana defeated the tough and hard working Vatican City side to earn their right in the final. At 5 pm on a cold evening at the Sonic Stadium the final begun, it was to be a tight affair as both teams had few chances. Bolivia came up trumps and collected the trophy in their first appearance in the compost cup.
It was announced at a press conference at the Sonic stadium that the 2009 event sponsored by Olde English that the event was to be held during the last two weeks of June. Also at this press conference, 2 new teams, along with 6 new players would be entering the tournament.
