Cloud gap

The Cloud Gap is a term in information security used to describe the lack of encryption between data in transit (e.g., SSL) and data at rest (e.g., AES) on a network. The term Cloud Gap was coined by Laconic Security as a way to describe the security issues facing storing files in the Cloud.
Background
The widespread use of cloud-based file storage and sharing solutions has led to security and privacy concerns over data stored in cloud services. . Primarily, cloud providers have full access to the data that is stored in the cloud. . This gives cloud providers the ability to provide targeted marketing, deliver advertisements, deduplicate files and produce derivative works without need for permission.
