Clicksor is an online contextual advertising network based in North York, Ontario. The network was launched by its mother company Yesup Media Inc., which was founded in 1999. Overview By centralizing advertisers and publishers on one network, Clicksor selects advertisements most relevant to publishers’ content and places the ads accordingly. This is commonly known as contextual advertising. Clicksor first scans a publisher’s page to find keywords that describe the content. Next, they will match these with advertiser-provided keywords so only advertisements related to the page content will be displayed. By doing so, Clicksor gauges over 1 billion impressions globally per month. Advertisements submitted to Clicksor’s network are first reviewed by a Verification Team for compliance with the Terms of Service. Advertisements will be rejected if they fail to meet these standards or contain illegal content. History Clicksor was founded in 2004, 5 years after the establishment of their sister company, YesUp Media Inc. They were originally located at 350 Highway 7 East and have relocated to several locations before settling at 200 Consumers Road, Suite 308, Toronto, Ontario M2J 4R4. Since then, their slogan has evolved from “Get Visitors, Get Clicksor” to “Deliver Where It Matters”, suggesting their shift from a publisher-oriented network to a well-balanced advertiser/publisher network. They have carefully built their reputation as a “performance-based contextual advertising network” through online promotions and industry events such as the ad:tech annual digital marketing event in New York. Funcionality Advertisers In the advertisers’ point of view, Clicksor allows them to match pre-selected keywords or product types within particular internet content. The advertising formats include inline text links, banners, graphical and rich media banners and pop-under ads. Payment for these ads may be on a CPC/PPC, CPV/PPV, CPM and CPI basis. Clicksor places ads appropriately using 9 targeting methods: - Geo Targeting - Channel Targeting - Time Targeting - Keyword Targeting - Retargeting - OS Targeting - Device Targeting - ISP Targeting - Language Targeting Publishers In the publishers’ point of view, they can earn revenue from their web traffic. After signing up for an account, publishers can place a Clicksor ad code to display on their sites. Based on the advertisers’ selections of keywords, ads are distributed to these websites depending on their site content and relevancy. Publishers can place an assortment of text/image banners, rich media banners, full page pop-unders and interstitial ad codes that best suit the design of their website.<ref name="adtalks" />
