Classical Music Discoveries
|
Classical Music Discoveries is a classical music internet radio show, that was started in 2004. CMD (Classical Music Discoveries) was initially started as a support organization for the Orchestra of Southern Utah. It was hoped that by broadcasting the orchestra's concerts, this would build their audience. Which it did. The audience size grew and CMD became more popular with each passing month. In their first month, their audience size was only 137 people. By their 3rd month, their audience had grown to over 1,300 listeners. During their first 2 years, CMD was more or less, an amateur broadcast. Containing only music with no show introductions, no advertisers, etc. that modern broadcasts have. Still their show was now being listened to by over 30,000 people per month. In season 3, CMD drastically changed their format and hired a show hostess to be the "voice" of Classical Music Discoveries to the world. With this new format and voice, the show quickly grew and reach its first million in another year. Now in their 9th season (2013), CMD reaches a monthly audience of over 50 million people per month and continues to grow. Major artists also appear on the show: Lydia Ashton, Beth Levin, Giuseppe Devastato, Carol Worthey, Adrienne Albert, Avguste Antonov, Douglas Townsend, Katherine Hoover, Matt Herskowitz, Elizabeth Wolff. Jane Leslie, Aaron Kaplan, JJ Sheridan, Zuill Bailey, La Musica International Chamber Music Festival, Philadelphia International Music Festival, Crossroads Quartet, Sofia Gulbadamova, Lara Downes, Alexandre Brussilovsky, Barbara Bertoldi, Quartetto degli Affetti, Emilio Colon and many, many others. CMD is the mainstay of classical music to many in the world.
