Christian Hartsock (born October 26, 1986) is an American film director, author, writer, producer, and political columnist. He, along with young conservative activists James O'Keefe, Lila Rose, Ryan Sorba and Hannah Giles, was the subject of the 2010 CNN documentary Right on the Edge. Film Hartsock served on the crew of the 2001 indie feature Illusion starring Kirk Douglas. He was a videographer with Metmedia Productions from 2000 to 2002. He wrote, co-produced, and assisted in filming "A Nation Divided: Abortion and the Supreme Court, which won second place in C-SPAN's 2005 StudentCam documentary contest. He has worked on several films through his own production company Dionysus Productions, writing and directing a feature film while still in film school, The Ministry of Absence, a student project They Eyes Was Watchin' Gawd, a short mock trailer of Zora Neal Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God, and his thesis short film Sycophant. He was a set dresser on the feature film, "Downstream.". Hartsock produced the feature film, The Lives of Better Men. He produced b-roll for the California ACORN video investigation, conducted by James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles. He also wrote and directed the conservative rap video, Victicrat, starring Buddy Sosthand, Alfonzo Rachel and James O'Keefe. Writing Columns He regularly writes for BigJournalism.com, a website by Washington Times commentator Andrew Breitbart, for which he documented his trip to Iraq with the Move America Foward group. Hartsock’s conservative political columns have been syndicated online on websites including Alan Keyes’ RenewAmerica.us, Townhall.com, NewMediaJournal.us, and IntellectualConservative.com among several others. His column, “The Obama Animal Farm,” was mentioned on CNN.com and The Wall Street Journal shortly after Barack Obama’s inauguration. He is editor-in-chief of PoliticalVanguard.com, a website run by California Republican Party vice chair Tom Del Bacarro. Hartsock's commentary has also been discussed on Fox News's Red Eye program. Books In 2007, Hartsock wrote his first book, In the Name of Progress: The Liberalization of Christianity, published with iUniverse, Inc. According to the publisher, “Hartsock delves into such controversial subjects as the definition of ‘progressive Christians,’ why he feels liberalism is the religion of feelings, and the stigma of fundamentalism.” In 2009, he co-wrote Audacious! Political Columns, Essays and Arthouse Fashion Modeling with Krystle Nicole Russin, using his and Russin's old columns with new material and photos featuring himself, Russin and men's tie designer Chris Cantoya. Politics Republican Affiliation A talk radio guest on shows like Sharon Hughes' Changing World Views, he campaigned for George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election and John McCain in the 2008 presidential election, particularly out of enthusiastic support for vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. His initial choice for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination however, was Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas.
