Chris Avenir

Chris Avenir is a student at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Chris came to public attention March 2008 after being charged with 147 counts of facilitating academic misconduct. He set up a Facebook group, that, according to press reports, encouraged students to study together for chemistry homework problem sets. On March 18, 2008, the Ryerson University's Faculty Appeals Committee announced he would have a disciplinary notice on his transcript and receive a zero on 10 percent of his grade (one assignment) in the course. Ryerson's disciplinary hearing did not recommend expulsion. As part of the process, Avenir has the opportunity to appeal the misconduct decision. The misconduct hearing was closed to the public at Avenir's request. |
