The 2009 UCLA throat slashing was an attack on a student at the University of California, Los Angeles. The Associated Press reports that "students and faculty at UCLA are stunned following a horrific attack in a campus chemistry lab in which a male student allegedly slashed the throat of a female student." Damon Thompson of the country of Belize was arrested as a suspect on suspicion of attempted murder. This is notable because it was reported worldwide in multiple reliable sources. The UCLA community was shocked because of this, where a student was stabbed multiple times, including in the neck, during a chemistry lab class. Lab classes were canceled the next day and counselors were available for students.
