Choose curtains, also known as RB Contacts LTD is a leading British-based curtains and bedding retailer, it is based in the town of Brinscall near Chorley in Lancashire and are now Lancashires largest independent wholesaler of curtain fabrics. The firm focuses on being a value-for-money home furnishing retailer, selling a wide variety of made to measure curtains, bedding and blinds.
History & Current Operations
RB Contacts was founded over twenty-five years ago in the Lancashire town of Brinscall , where they quickly acquired a name for themselves. More recently over the past couple of years RB Contacts has started stocking curtains from a wide variety of the UK’s leading designers, such as Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Julian Charles. The market growth for Choose curtains has been increasing steadily since it opened over 2 decades ago, but over the past few years they have noticed increased awareness due to the new website going live. Their products have recently been shipped as far away as the Caribbean Islands and Gibraltar, making them the largest distributor of curtain fabrics in Lancashire.
Televised Appearances
In the past several years the products supplied by Choose curtains/RB Contacts has made several major television appearance, the most recent being on ITV’s 60 minute makeover on the 8th June 2009 where they supplied an assortment of curtains and fabric to the design team. Other televised appearances of their products have been on the Channel 4 show How Clean Is Your House, and on the popular BBC soap Eastenders. Robin Bamford, owner of the company, was approached by representatives of the popular BBC television program at exceptionally short notice. They then managed to have the curtains prepared and sent off in only 24 hours, something that was very much appreciated by the team at the BBC.
When asked about his new customer, Robin went on to say, "It was exciting to be approached by such a well known television programme and I was glad to be of service. I managed to get the curtains ready in 24 hours and had them over to them by the next morning."
Charity Work
Over the years choose curtains have been involved in a wide array of different charity organistions and events, one of the most notable being the Brinscall Goitway committee, of which the owner and director Robin Bamford is the vice chairmam. The objective of the Goitway committee (Goit River Environment Action Team) is to create a bio-diverse wildlife environment in the midst of the villages of Withnell and Brinscall by returning the Goit waterway to nature after being covered for 100Yrs.
