Levelism

Levelism is a trade policy approach first proposed by the Corporate Statesmen Think tank. Researcher Avraam J. Dectis was the primary contibutor.
Levelism uses tariffs to diminish the advantage gained through lower wages and lower environmental standards.
Levelism does not impose tariffs on high wage high environmental standards countries and is therefore not protectionism.
Levelism gained its name through the frequent economic reference to "level the playing field".
Levelism does not choose winners and losers nor does it prevent any economic entity from competing in an industry. The best competitor will still win.
Tariffs can be imposed on an industry within a lower wage/environmental standard country or it can be imposed upon an entire lower wage/environmental standard country. Tariffs should be imposed gradually to give the affected countries a chance to compensate.
