Chicago reggae

The original reggae music sounds were created on the island of Jamaica, known to the original inhabitants as the land of wood and water. As economic trade brought many different groups of people from the west African continent on European ships, the culture and music was brought with these African tribes. A mix of languages and cultures set the pot for the creation of reggae music with has echoed from the speakers of Jamaica across the entire earth.
Bob Marley performed at the Uptown Theatre in Chicago on November 13th, 1979 deepening the city's roots in the reggae music. There is a small Jamaican community around the Chicagoland area with a small concentration around the Roger's park neigbourhood, and the rest widely spread out around the city. The community however continues to grow making the music more popular.
