Charlotte Hawkins Flowers

Charlotte Hawkins Flowers (February 20, 1900 May 4, 2012) was an American supercentenarian. She died from kidney failure at the age of 112 years, 74 days old.
Biography
Charlotte Hawkins was born in Madison, Florida on February 20, 1900, one of seven children (she outlived her six siblings and all nine of her children). She lived in North Florida until age 105, when she went to live with her great-granddaughter, Mia, and three great-great grandchildren. Prior to her 112th birthday, U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings made a recognition statement in the United States House of Representatives. Two parties were held and she was given a proclamation as well as the key to the city by Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters and the city council. She also received congratulatory letters from Florida Governor Rick Scott, Congressman Hastings, and County Commissioner Priscilla Taylor.
Death
Relatives noted that Flowers was active and in good health until April 29, 2012, when they noticed that "she was having trouble breathing and was unresponsive," according to her obituary. She was taken to the hospital on May 2, and was transferred to Hospice of Palm Beach County, where she died the morning of May 4, 2012, of kidney failure.
