Charlie Powell (born Charlotte Grace May Powell, 30 May 1994) is an English radio personality, radio producer and DJ from Cornwall, best known for her Saturday evening show on Kiss, part of the Kiss Network, which airs from 9-12pm on Saturday nights. Early life Charlie was born in Stroud, Gloucestershire on 30 May 1994 to Steven Powell (born 18 April 1960) and Sarah Powell (née Battishill, born 24 September 1969). The family moved to Cornwall in 1997. Charlotte was educated at Penryn College where she became interested in radio, joining the school's Radio Club and becoming involved with Source FM, a local community radio. She undertook work experience at Pirate FM. After leaving college, she studied at University of Westminster, Harrow, where she was a Programme Director at Smoke Radio, the university's student radio station. Career At university, Charlie served several internships with production companies such as , The Big Idea, Grape, Rinse FM, Pirate Radio again and MTA Records. Some of this was within the BBC, including BBC Radio 1Xtra, where she was a production assistant, helping with shows from luminaries such as Annie Nightingale and Craig Charles. She started broadcasting at Roundhouse, a famous london venue, noted for its radio station for young talent. After graduating with a degree in Radio Production in 2015, she started producing shows for Kiss Fresh, part of the Bauer Media Group and broadcast her first professional shows on Saturday mornings. She soon began filling in on Kiss and producing shows on that station. She broadcast her first Saturday night show in 2019, taking over from Steve Smart. That year, she hosted the Pride afterparty, at London's Covent Garden. Other activities She is also a Voice over artist and she occasionally performs as a club DJ, mainly in London. Charlie is a regular judge at the Student Radio Awards;. Personal life Charlie has one sister, Harriet Daisy May Powell, born 25 January 1996, Stroud, Gloucestershire.
