Charles D. Bell

Dr. Charles "Chuck" Bell is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Orleans in the Department of Biological Sciences and is an expert in phylogenetic systematics.
Chuck received his Ph.D. in 2003 working with Michael Donoghue. After that he continued his training as a postdoc at the University of Florida with Douglas and Pamela Soltis. He has continued to collaborate with them on the early evolution and diversification of angiosperms.
He started a position at Xavier University of New Orleans in the Fall of 2004, only to be cut short by Hurricane Katrina.
He has contributed to the systematic knowledge of Valerianaceae and Dipsacales. In addition to angiosperms, he has also collaborated on other taxonomic groups including ants, fish, fungi, and fruit flies.
