Centaur Asset Management is an international asset management and investment company headquartered in Dubai, UAE, with additional offices in London, Bermuda and Hong Kong. It is a division of Centaur Holdings and has won a number of awards including 6 BarclayHedge Recognition Awards for Excellence.
History
Centaur Asset Management was established in 2012, founded by Daniel McGowan CEO of Centaur Group Holdings Ltd. The first offices were established at Cedar House, 41 Cedar Ave, Hamilton, Bermuda. In 2012, the firm set up its Headquarters in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In the same year, Centaur Asset Management’s UK Offices opened in 33 St James’s Square, London, SW1Y 4JS, United Kingdom.
Centaur Asset Management signed a distribution agreement with Al Mal Capital Ltd. in 2013, establishing the group as the local sponsor and promoter in United Arab Emirates for the Phoenix Legal Financing Fund I. In 2015, the business expanded its offices and moved to Boulevard Plaza 1, Downtown Dubai opposite the Burj Khalifa.
In 2016, Centaur Asset Management became a corporate sponsor of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment to promote industry standards designed to promote integrity and trust with the asset management sector.
Later in the same year, Centaur Asset Management opened an office in Hong Kong to create a presence in Asia at 2 Exchange Centre in Hong Kong. The business also appointed Wesley Grogor as the Group Head for Mining Operations to oversee the resources and mining operations.
In 2016 Centaur Asset Management was awarded "Best Boutique Asset Management Company - UAE" at the 2016 Acquisition International Business Excellence Awards
Centaur signed a $100 million credit deal with a UAE-based family office to expand its mining and natural resources projects of Centaur Mining in South Africa in June 2016.
In June 2016 Centaur launched an open-ended Mutual fund 'The Centaur Natural Resources Bond Tracker Fund' under the fund administration of Trident Trust which allowed the investors to access the natural resource market without the risk of any equity exposure.
