Carlos Robson

Carlos Robson is a writer, singer, storyteller, Performance Poet, Spoken Word Artist, co-founder of the acclaimed Concrete Generation, and National Poetry Slam Champion. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Robson moved to the mountains of North Carolina as a child, and now calls Charlotte, North Carolina home. His works have been presented and performed all over North America, from Miami's open mics to Vancouver's international competitions, from Texas' National Poetry Slam's Final Stage to Broadway stages and back again.

Robson often sites his greatest influences as his own contemporaries, such as Buddy Wakefield, Roger Bonair-Agard, Taylor Mali, and his own mentor and Slam team coach, Boris "Bluz" Rogers. Inspired and taught by some of the South's greatest contemporary spoken word artists like Maze Forever, Quentin "Q" Talley, and Dasan Ahanu, Robson quickly became a staple in the Charlotte poetry scene in early 2005; represeting Charlotte in both the '05 and '06 Individual World Poetry Slams. Most recently, he bacame part of the SlamCharlotte team that won the 2007 National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas, his teamates included Mike Simms, Bluz, Queen Sheba, Tavis Brunson, Paul D, and Inkera.

He is currently working on a one man play, and his first studio album, entitled "the Queen and I."
