Call in Europe

Call in Europe is a mobile virtual network operator located in Connecticut that provides international cell phones and SIM cards to travelers to Europe.

History
The company was founded in 2006 by Patrick Gentemann whose goal in starting Call in Europe was to lower the barriers that keep North Americans with cell phones from using the European network the way the Europeans themselves do.

Market
Traditional customers of Call in Europe Company have been North American people who travel to Europe. In the nearest future an extension to the European market is foreseen.

Products and Services
* Mobile Virtual Network Operator for international cell phone roaming services.
* Reseller for local SIM cards in over 50 countries
* Reseller of mobile (cell) phones (purchase and rental)
The offered service differs from the traditional Pay as you go formula as it is done on a postpaid basis. Customers do not buy minutes in advance and pay for the usage the following month via the credit card provided with the original order.

BlackBerry, PDA, Smartphone or Pocket PC users
The provided SIM cards are BlackBerry compatible, they may be used both by BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) users. The SIM cards are also 3G/GPRS enabled and it allows for using the data services of customer's unlocked devices.

Renting
For those whose departures abroad are not long-term ones and who need to spend overseas only one or two weeks, Call in Europe offers the international phone rental option.

Partners

My advice is to not use Call In Europe. There are many safer options available. Although it may be convenient, your usage with Call In Europe is directly tied to your credit card with no fraud detection or charge limit. The result is if your phone or card is stolen, the thief can rack up several thousand dollars worth of calls until you discover the theft and notify Call In Europe. Their terms and conditions state you are still liable for all the charges, fraudulent or not, until the day you notify them. If you don’t discover the theft right away, you will find yourself with fraudulent charges on your credit card that CIE will not refund. This is what happened to me. CIE sued me for $5000 that was charged on the phone during the month prior to the realization that the phone was stolen. It's too late for me, but I don't want anyone else to go through this nightmare as well.
