Bruce J. Sallan

Bruce Sallan (born November 8, 1953) is an American author and radio show host. His first book A Dad’s Point-of-View: We ARE Half the Equation, was published in May 2011. His second book, The Empty-Nest Road Trip Blues: An Interactive Journal from A Dad’s Point-of-View, was published in October 2012.
Sallan also writes a weekly syndicated column A Dad’s Point-of-View, and hosts a weekly radio show, “The Bruce Sallan Show - A Dad’s Point of View” which airs on KZSB 1290 in Santa Barabara and KRSA 580 in Alaska.
All published works and media produced center on the challenges of parenthood and family relationships. Prior to becoming a published author he was a television and movie producer as well as the Vice-President of ABC.
Television career
After earning his M.B.A. from UCLA, Sallan began a career as a television executive; he produced his first television movie at the age of 24 and was a Vice President at ABC by the time he was 29.
During his television career (1976 - 2000), Sallan supervised the development and production of more than 30 motion pictures.
Films which Sallan personally produced include the award-winning ABC Theater presentation God Bless The Child, TV's first movie to honestly address the problems of the homeless. The show won both the Writers Guild Award for Best Teleplay as well as the Humanitas Award for 1988. Sallan's 1990 film, A Killing in a Small Town, for CBS brought Barbara Hershey both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Best Actress and the film was also nominated for an Emmy as Best Dramatic Longform.

During his career in television, he wrote articles for Daily Variety and the Producers Caucus Bulletin.
Writing career
Sallan began writing various blogs, as well as articles for local publications, including a regular column for a local paper about being a single dad. Eventually, he began marketing his column to more newspapers and websites, and it is now published in over 75 papers and websites in more than 20 states, as well as on several international sites. His writing focus is primarily on parenting issues.
