Browns-Lions rivalry

The Browns-Lions rivalry began in 1950 when the Browns came from the AAFC to the NFL. The rivalry was arguably on of the most intense NFL rivalries in the 1950's when the two teams played in four NFL championship games with the Lions winning three games over the Browns and the Browns winning one over the Lions. Since 2002 the two teams have played in an annual preseason game known as the Great Lakes Classic. The two teams play once every four years per the NFL's scheduling formula. The next meeting will be in 2013 in Cleveland. There is a natural rivalry between Ohio and Michigan which stems from the Toledo war and the Michigan-Ohio State football rivalry.
