British and Commonwealth Sauna Championships

Inspired by the World Sauna Championships, the British and Commonwealth Sauna Championships is open to the 2.1 billion people of the Commonwealth. It was first held in Kuala Lumpur’s Fitness First SPK branch (renamed MBF) in 2006.
Less well-regulated than it’s Finnish-based sibling, there has been some contention as to its validity. However, the lack of competitor events has meant that it’s standings are difficult to dispute.
Event originator and reigning champion, Nick Hurst, has spoken of his intention to compete in the World Championships in the summer of 2009. He has stated a desire to use the experience and potential new revenue streams, to expand and fully regulate the British and Commonwealth version. His challenge is to be filmed for British TV.
There has been mention of an inaugural women’s competition in 2009.
