Brenda Barrios is a multidisciplinary Chicana artist. She is known for her works that raises awareness of issues related to topics of inequality among Chicana/o-x and Latina/o-x communities. Early life and education Brenda Barrios was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Pasadena, California. In 2018, while enrolled at Pasadena City College, Barrios was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease leading her to seriously consider her life choices and the realization that she wanted to be an advocate for marginalized groups and people living with disabilities. In her work, Barrios uses bright colors inspired by her Mexican heritage and cultural upbringing. Barrios' most recognized art works is an award-winning graphic mural produced for Amplifier Art. The mural features the artist's mother with the text, "Medicare for All". Barrios' work titled, "Medicare for All" has been archived in the Library of Congress.
