Blue valley recreation

Blue Valley Recreation Commission (BVRC) is a tax supported agency that facilitates a large amount of activities and sports in Overland Park, Kansas. It was formed in 1986 to provide recreation and activities for the Blue Valley Community. programs are supported by user fees and non-tax revenues.

Their mission statement is >To provide quality, cost-efficient programs and facilities that reflect the needs of Blue Valley residents and add value to the community

Recreation expenses are largly tax supported, while the activities are user supported

Last year over 443,000 youth and 63,000 adults attended various BVRC programs, and over 325,000 spectators came to watch the sports and activities.

Activities
Blue Valley Recreation hosts a multitude of activities such as aquatics, dance, gymnastics, Special Olympics, and camps, and also offers many classes for children and adults.

Sports
Blue Valley Recreation is home to many sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and many more. Kids and adults have opportunities to join various leagues in which sportsmanship and healthy competition are encouraged.
Complex
The Blue Valley Recreation Complex, also know as Miller's Woods, is one of the finest baseball/softball complexes in the state. It is composed of 22 fields. The Complex hosts everything from adult softball dubbed "The Ultimate Drinking Game" too competitive youth baseball tournaments with many out of state entries.

Arbitrating Officials
Blue Valley Recreation is known for the quality and skill of its officials. All officials are well trained. Most notably, the umpires at Blue Valley Recreation are some of the best in the state of Kansas.
